Children's Cancer CenterLife Brand Products is proud to support and DoLife! The Children’s Cancer Center story:The mission of the Children’s Cancer founded in 1974 after Mac and Cecile Burnett lost their daughter, Helen, to leukemia. In 1976, Dr. Janifer M. Judisch, one of only three hematology/oncology physicians in the state of Florida, arrived at the University of South Florida (USF) College of Medicine and established the Center at USF with the Burnetts. |
|
| Dr. Judisch and the Burnetts envisioned an organization to help alleviate the stress of coping with a child's traumatic illness by providing educational, psychological and financial support. The Children’s Cancer Center is the result of their vision. Primarily, the Children's Cancer Center provides its support to pediatric hematology/oncology patients in St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, Tampa General Hospital, All Children's Hospital and All Children's Specialty Care of Tampa. However, the Center has served children from all over Florida, the Southeastern United States and abroad in the Bahamas, India and South America. |

The Pediatric Cancer Foundation Story: There is one common wish, hope, prayer among the parents and family of a child with cancer. A cure. In 1991, Melissa and Risa co-founded the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization with the mission of funding research that will lead to the elimination of childhood cancer worldwide. The only way a cure will be found for this disease is through research. Over the past fifty years, research has yielded many answers to the mysteries of pediatric cancer. These answers come in the form a tremendous increase in the survival rate of pediatric cancer patients. Currently, up to 75% of the children diagnosed can now be cured. However, over 12,500 youth under the age of 20 are diagnosed with cancer each year and in that time, approximately 2,300 children and teenagers will lose their battle with the disease. In addition to funding valuable seed grants throughout the state of Florida, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation has developed The Sunshine Project, a novel collaborative research initiative that has united the foremost researchers from around the country to fast-track new treatments and increase the survival rate for children battling cancer. |
